Odd Question — Terms of Service
Effective date: September 8, 2026 Last updated: September 8, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, answering a question, or otherwise using Odd Question (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. These Terms are between you and Odd Question LLC ("we," "us," "The Institute").
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use Odd Question. By using the Service, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. What Odd Question is
Odd Question is a daily-poll app: each day you're shown a small set of questions (rankings, quick votes, forecasts, and similar formats), and after answering you see how your answer compares to a wider result. Some findings are drawn from a representative sample of respondents; others are provisional or drawn from a self-selected group, and the app labels which is which.
4. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account when it first opens; signing up adds your name, a username, a password, and a phone number or email to it. Use your own name and a number or address you control, and keep your password to yourself — you're responsible for what happens under your login. You may delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app.
If you verify a phone number in the phone app, it must be a number you control. If you choose to check your contacts for friends, you confirm you're allowed to share those numbers with us for that purpose; they leave your phone only as one-way hashes, as the Privacy Policy describes.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use bots, scripts, or automated means to submit answers or manipulate a finding.
- Attempt to identify how any other individual person answered a question.
- Submit abusive, hateful, or illegal content anywhere the Service allows free text (e.g. a group's custom question).
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its networks.
- Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.
6. Friends and group features
Some features let you add friends, form or join a private Circle, and play Circle games. Content submitted to a Circle — including any questions about Circle members — must follow our content guidelines: positive-only framing for anything about a specific person, and members can opt out of being included at any time. Friends can also send each other anonymous polls (the sender writes the question and picks a format; the recipient sees the poll and answer, never who asked) and unmasked questions (free-form, with the sender's name attached from the start). Both are automatically reviewed before delivery, and a friend can switch either off, or stop a specific person's anonymous or unmasked questions from reaching them without unfriending them. We reserve the right to remove content that violates this or our general acceptable-use rules, and every question can be reported.
7. Purchases
Odd Question Plus. Plus is an optional subscription: $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year (US dollars; tax may apply where required). First-time subscribers get a 14-day free trial. You provide a payment method when you start the trial, and it is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. After that, your plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings › Profile › Manage subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep Plus until then. We don't give refunds for partial periods except where the law requires. If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
Purchases through Apple or Google. If you subscribe inside the iOS or Android app, the purchase is processed by Apple's or Google's in-app purchase system, is subject to their terms, and is managed and cancelled through your App Store or Google Play account rather than through us.
Commissioned polls. Quick Polls and Professional Polls are paid per order and processed by Stripe. An order is charged when placed. If we decline an order or cannot run it, we refund it in full; once a poll has been served to respondents, the order is complete and not refundable except as required by law.
8. Findings and content ownership
Aggregate findings, rankings, and reports produced by the Service belong to Odd Question LLC. You retain ownership of anything you personally submit (like a custom group question), but by submitting it you grant us a license to use, display, and aggregate it as part of the Service.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is." Findings reflect the opinions of respondents at a point in time; they are not professional, medical, financial, or legal advice, and shouldn't be treated as such. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Odd Question LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
