Rigorous Polling for Ridiculous Questions
Odd Question is a daily drop of a few questions, then the findings. Every day you rank, vote, and forecast on a handful of things worth arguing about — some odd, some serious — and then you see how the country answered. The findings are weighted so they read like the country, not like whoever happened to be awake, and the app labels which findings are representative and which are provisional.
The Institute
Members belong to The Institute, the fictional research body that runs Odd Question with more gravity than the questions deserve. You start as an Intern. Answer daily, keep a streak, forecast well, and you climb: Novice, Attaché, Analyst, and on up toward Pollster. Rank is for bragging rights; it never changes what a finding shows.
What's in the drop
- Official polls. One serious ranking a day, drawn from a representative sample, with the method published for every one. Some are written for your generation: the songs, snacks, and playground rules only your age group remembers.
- Quick takes and forecasts. Fast votes and predictions, scored against what actually happens. Our record is public on the track record page.
- Circles and games. Group your friends, family, or coworkers into a private Circle, and play games together: write your own questions and predict how the room answers, or forecast real outcomes — sports, awards, elections — and see how your calls score over time.
- Friends. Add friends, then ask them things two ways: an anonymous poll, where they see the poll and your answer but never who asked, or an unmasked question, free-form and in your own words, with your name attached from the start.
How the numbers work
Findings are weighted to Census benchmarks on age, gender, race, and region, with attention checks and rake weights that anyone can inspect. The full method is on the methods page.

Who makes it
Odd Question is made by Odd Question LLC in Virginia. Questions and copy are drafted with help from several AI models and approved by a person; your answers are never shown to those models or to anyone else. The privacy policy says exactly what we keep, which is deliberately little.
